Cast Iron Drain Replacement Done the Right Way

Cast iron drain lines have a lifespan. And when they go, they don't give you a lot of warning. Cracks, corrosion, and root intrusion build up over time until you're dealing with slow drains, sewage smells, or worse - water damage spreading under your slab and into your walls.

That's exactly the kind of situation we were brought in to fix here. The existing cast iron had run its course, and the only real solution was to pull it out and start fresh. We opened up the slab, removed the deteriorated pipe, and got new drain lines in place the right way - no shortcuts, no band-aid fixes.

You can see the trench cut cleanly across the concrete floor and the work already underway to backfill it properly with Sakrete. The drywall along the lower half of the wall was also opened up to access the drain connections running through the framing. It's a big job, but it's the kind of work that actually solves the problem instead of just delaying it.

A lot of homeowners put off this type of repair because of the scope. We get it - it looks like a lot. But waiting only gives the problem more time to spread. Water damage, mold, and structural issues don't stay contained. Catching the drain failure and replacing the lines now means this homeowner doesn't have to worry about what's happening under their floor.
