Old tank water heaters take up a surprising amount of space inside a home. A closet, a corner of the garage, a utility room - gone. And on top of that, you're paying to keep 40 or 50 gallons of water hot around the clock, whether you need it or not. There's a better way.
Here's what we were working with: an older standard tank unit sitting inside the home. The goal was to move the whole setup outside and swap it for a tankless unit mounted directly to the exterior wall. That meant rerouting both the water lines and the gas line - not a small job, but the right way to do it.
The finished install is clean. The unit sits flush against the stucco, the connections are tight and properly run, and there's nothing sloppy about how it came together. Moving it outside also freed up usable interior space - which homeowners always appreciate once they see it done.
Tankless units only fire up when you actually need hot water, so you're not burning gas all day just to keep a tank warm. That adds up over time. And because there's no tank sitting around, you're also not dealing with the slow decline that eventually leads to a leak or a full failure at the worst possible moment.
This kind of upgrade is one of those things that makes sense on multiple levels - efficiency, reliability, and getting your space back. It's a straightforward improvement that pays off for the long haul.
